NEW YORK - The Columbia men's squash team will have its home opener on Friday, January 21 when it hosts No. 15 Navy at 7:30 p.m. at the StreetSquash facility located on 40 West 116th Street.  The Lions will look to carry momentum from last weekend and build on its 5-1 record.

The No. 27 Columbia men's squash team went 4-0 in competition at the Pioneer Valley Invitational on January 15-16. The Lions defeated No. 26 Connecticut College, No. 24 Colby and No. 25 Hobart 7-2, and pulled out a 5-4 victory against No. 22 Wesleyan in the final match of the weekend.

Over the two-day tournament, Tony Zou (#3), Theo Buchsbaum (#5), Alec Goldberg (#6) and Andrew Tan (#7) each won all four matches, while Graham Miao (#1), Clayton Dahlman (#2), and Martin Goman (#4) all finished 3-1.

After finishing 4-0 at the Pioneer Valley Invitational, the squash community is taking notice of the Lions' improvement.  Both the Columbia men's and women's squash programs were featured on the U.S. Squash website, highlighting the College Squash Roundup for last week.  Check out the article here.

Navy is 16-4 entering this Friday's match against Columbia and is ranked No. 15 in the country.  The Mids have suffered just four losses this season to No. 7 Dartmouth, No. 14 St. Lawrence, No. 10 Penn, and No. 11 Williams, and have won 15 of their 16 matches by a 9-0 score.

This Friday's match against Navy will serve as the home opener for the Lions.  Columbia will compete at the StreetSquash facility located at 40 West 116th street.  Fans can enter the venue at the main entrance located between 5th and Lenox on 115th Street.

Columbia (5-1) returns to action on Saturday, January 29 when it travels to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to play Vassar, Northeastern, and Bard.
