No. 17 Middlebury and No. 11 Williams Await No. 9 Menís Squash This Weekend
NEW YORK - The No. 9 Columbia men's squash team will be on the road again this weekend, visiting No. 17 Middlebury on Saturday, Jan. 26 and No. 11 Williams on Sunday, Jan. 27. First serve at both matches is set for 12 p.m.
The Lions moved to 5-4 on the year after going 2-2 in four neutral court matches in New Haven, Conn. from Jan. 18-20. Columbia opened the weekend with losses to No. 7 Franklin & Marshall and No. 10 St. Lawrence before toppling No. 16 George Washington and No. 20 Bowdoin.
The Lions' No. 1 player, Ramit Tandon (8-1), dropped his first match since last season's national championship match to St. Lawrence's Amr Khaled Khalifa. After splitting the first four sets, Khalifa secured the victory with an 11-8 score in the fifth.
Graham Miao is second on the team with six wins, playing primarly as the No. 4 for the Lions. Mohamed AbdelMaksoud (No. 2), Tony Zou (Nos. 2-3) and Alex Nalle (No. 9) each have five wins for Columbia.
Also competing in New Haven last weekend, the Panthers went 1-2. Middlebury was eclipsed by No. 6 Cornell and No. 7 F&M before finishing up play with a 6-3 triumph over George Washington.
Parker Hurst (No. 2), Harrison Croll (No. 7) and Reed Palmer (No. 10) have all notched 10 wins this season.
The Ephs dropped to .500 (8-8) after going 1-2 in New Haven. Williams sandwiched losses to St. Lawrence and F&M around an 8-1 win over George Washington.
Christopher Wilkinson, who serves as the Ephs' No. 8 in the ladder, leads the team with 10 victories. Taylor Foehl and Michael Petrick, the Ephs' primary No. 3 and 6, respectively, are both 8-6 this season.
