He was the Scottish Junior Open Champion in 2008, the Canadian Junior Open Champion in 2009, a two-time Canadian National Junior Champion and a Canada Winter Games Gold Medalist. Sekhar is also a former three-time junior Canadian No. 1 ranked player, including the U13, U15 and U17 groups. He also represented his country at the 2010 Pan American Junior Championships and the 2012 World Junior Championships.
