No. 12 Women’s Squash Hits the Road to Face No. 11 Middlebury and No. 10 Williams

NEW YORK - The No. 12 Columbia women's squash team will be back on the courts this weekend, visiting No. 11 Middlebury on Saturday, Jan. 26 and No. 10 Williams, on Sunday, Jan. 27. Both matches are slated to begin at 12 p.m.

Columbia moved up two spots in the latest College Squash Association rankings after winning three of four matches last weekend. Competing in New Haven, Conn., the Lions downed No. 14 Franklin & Marshall, No. 13 George Washington and No. 17 Bowdoin. Columbia shutout F&M and Bowdoin, while only dropping one individual match to George Washington.

A trio of Lions lead the team with four wins this season. First-year Reyna Pacheco has played in the No. 2 spot in all seven matches for Columbia, earning a 4-3 mark. Kate Calihan and Monica Stone also stand at 4-3, splitting time between Nos. 5-7 on the ladder.

Scouting Middlebury
The Panthers dropped just one match through their first 11 contests, but went 1-2 in New Haven last weekend. Middlebury was blanked by No. 6 Cornell and No. 3 Yale, while knocking of F&M in the same fashion.

Lindsay Becker, who has primarily played as the No. 7 for Middlebury, boasts a team-best 9-1 record. Charlotte Dewey (No. 2) and Saskia Pownall-Gray (No. 6) are just one victory behind Becker at 8-2.

Scouting Williams
The Ephs, who are in the midst of a seven-match win streak, are 10-7 this season. Williams went 3-0 in New Haven, dropping just two individual matches out of 27 in wins over St. Lawrence, George Washington and F&M.

The middle of the ladder has been the most successful for the Ephs this season. Williams No. 6, Caroline Sawin, leads the team with nine wins, while No. 4 Alyssa Northrop and No. 5 Nicole Feshback each have 8 victories to their credit.
