NEW YORK – Kicking-off the 2013-14 campaign, the No. 11 Columbia women’s squash team will host No. 14 George Washington on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 5 p.m. All Columbia home matches will be held at the SL Green StreetSquash Center in Harlem on 115th Street between 5th Ave. and Lenox.

ABOUT THE LIONS
Joining the Columbia Squash Alumni and Friends Head Coach of Squash Jacques Swanepoel at the helm this season will be Joanne Schickerling. With the aid and knowledge of Schickerling, the Lions will look to build on an 11th-place national ranking earned with a third-place showing in the Kurtz Cup (B Division) at the 2013 College Squash Association National Team Championships.
Columbia returns 10 student-athletes from last year’s top-15 team, including standouts Reyna Pacheco who competed in the Holleran Cup (B Division) at the 2012 CSA Individual National Championships. Captains Monica Stone, Skylar Dickey and Kate Calihan will be counted on to lead this year’s team and guide a quartet of newcomers.
SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
The Colonials will enter Saturday’s match coming off a 9-0 sweep over Georgetown to open the season. The Lions have owned the series leading 3-1 all-time, including wins in the last two meetings in 2013. These two team’s last met in the opening round of the CSA National Team Championships with Columbia grabbing the 8-1 victory.
