NEW YORK – Craig Hormann '08SEAS, the second-leading passer in completions and yards in Columbia history, has signed with the NFL's Cleveland Browns. Hormann reports he was contacted 30 minutes after the conclusion of Sunday's draft.
"It all seemed to happen in the span of about five minutes," the senior quarterback notes.
The 2007 co-captain reports to rookie mini-camp this weekend, leaving Thursday night and returning Sunday. "I have four practices this weekend with all the drafted and undrafted rookies," he explains.
An honorable mention All-Ivy League honoree in 2007 and second team selection in 2006, Hormann threw for 2,505 yards last season, fourth highest in school history. His 12 touchdown passes gave him 27 for his career, fifth-most on the Lions' all-time list
"I am excited for the opportunity," Hormann says, "and look forward to representing Columbia and the Ivy League in the NFL."
Hormann becomes the seventh Lion in the 21st century to play for or sign with an NFL team, along with Marcellus Wiley '97, Johnathan Reese '02, Steve Cargile '04, Wade Fletcher '05, Jeff Otis '05, and Michael Quarshie '05.
