The Lions remain in the River City for the Jacksonville Invitational this weekend. The three-day tournament begins Friday. The Lions are scheduled for a three-game series against George Mason and two games against the host Dolphins.

Game 1 Recap: North Florida 8 – Columbia 0 (F/5)
North Florida scored two unearned runs in the second and put up a five-spot in the fourth on the way to an 8-0, five-inning victory in game one.

Columbia’s offense never got going as UNF starter Logan Green (4-8) picked up the complete-game victory. A two-out single by Madison Gott in the first inning was the only hit Green allowed, adding four strikeouts.

Columbia starter Tonia Wu (2-4) struck out a pair in 3 2-3 innings. She surrendered two unearned runs on a dropped pop fly with two outs in the second, before allowing five earned runs on six singles and s triple in the fourth. Rookie Erin Gallo relieved Wu with one down in the fourth and got out of the inning.

North Florida took a 7-0 lead into the fifth and ended the game when Alex Arciola doubled home Ashley Neisman.

Game 2 Recap: North Florida 8 – Columbia 0 (F/6)
Columbia’s offense came up with seven hits, but left eight on base and Morgan Blourne (5-3) went the distance for UNF as the Ospreys took game two, 8-0, in six innings.

Madison Gott extended her hitting streak to nine games with a two-out single down the left field line in the Columbia first. Sophomore Jordan Townsend reached on an infield single in the second, but the Lions could not bring either runner around.

The Ospreys played small ball to plate the first run on Columbia starter Madison Canby (0-3). Macayla Kelley put down a sac bunt to place two in scoring position and Kayla McGory hit one deep enough to right to bring in Aguayo. Dominica Cocuzza singled to center to make it 2-0.

Columbia threatened in the third but stranded the bases loaded. Krystin Wong snuck a hit between third and short to lead things off. Two batters later, Olivia Parker reached when her sac bunt attempt was mishandled by UNF third baseman, Jenna Brownell. Sommer Grzybek punched a single to left field to load the bases for Alexandra Yule with two down, but Yule was beat on a bang-bang play at first to retire the side.

UNF capitalized and tacked on two more runs in the bottom half of the third off RBI singles from Macavla Kelley and Casey Estes. Canby was chased in the fifth when the lead increased to 5-0 on an RBI double off the bat of Estes. Maura Lynch came on in relief, but the first batter she faced doubled down the line in left to bring two more across.

Kayla McGory’s RBI single in the sixth sealed the 8-0 final.
