UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.—The Columbia men’s golf team is one 13 teams who will compete in the Penn State Rutherford Invitational this weekend at the Penn State Golf Course.

The 41st annual Rutherford Invitational will feature 13 teams including Columbia, host Penn State, Binghamton, Eastern Michigan, Georgetown, Oakland, Ohio, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Towson, VCU, West Virginia and Xavier.

Columbia will tee off at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning. The teams will play two rounds and 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday.

The Blue Course at the Penn State Golf Course has a par of 71 with a course length of 7,202 yards. The course hosted the Big Ten Men’s Golf Championship in 2009 and numerous other events conducted by the USGA, FCWT, AJGA, IJGT, PGA, Junior Series and the West Penn Golf Association. The invitational has been in existence since 1975. Penn State has won three consecutive titles and captured the 2016 team crown in 2016 with a nine-under-par 843.

Columbia will send one five-member team to compete at Penn State. Since taking over the Columbia program in 2005, head coach Rich Mueller has guided Columbia to four Ivy League team championships, three individual Ivy League titles, five NCAA postseason appearances and 23 All-Ivy League individual golf performances.

The invitational is the fourth of five competitive dates for the Lions this spring.
