NEW YORK—The Columbia Athletics’ Women’s Leadership Council has been given the opportunity to ring the New York Stock Exchange closing bell on Monday, December 12. The bell ringing ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. ET. A live stream of the event is available at

The Women’s Leadership Council co-founders Lisa Carnoy ‘89CC, Donna MacPhee ‘89CC and Philippa Portnoy ‘86BC ‘90BUS will officially ring the bell, surrounded by standout student-athletes, Columbia Athletics administrators and Roar-ee, Columbia’s mascot.

The Women’s Leadership Council, founded in 2007 with Dr. M. Dianne Murphy, former Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education, is a leadership giving recognition society for women. Since its inception, Council members have contributed over $3.5 million in leadership support to the Athletics annual funds. There are two levels of membership within the Council: Silver membership, marked by cumulative annual gifts of $2,500 or more to The Fund for Excellence and/or Columbia Athletics’ 31 varsity sports programs over the course of the fiscal year (July 1-June 30), and the Blue & White membership, marked by cumulative annual gifts of $1,000.
