NEW YORK - Three more meets are on deck for the Columbia track & field teams this weekend, as the Lions look to continue its recent success in the outdoor season.
On Friday, Columbia will have athletes compete at the Sam Howell Invitational hosted by Princeton, while Anna Williams will compete in the outdoor triple jump at Auburn's Tiger Track Classic, an event she was the Ivy League champion in during the indoor season. On Saturday, Columbia travels to Charlottesville for the Virginia Quad, while continuing on at the meet in Princeton.
The Lions had an eventful weekend last time out, with trips to Stanford, Florida, and William & Mary.
At the Florida Relays, Robert Napolitano posted a personal best of 3:43.50 in the first of four timed finals helped him to edge Florida's Jack Guyton, who was second in that heat at 3:43.63, for the overall first place finish.
Columbia impressed at the Stanford Invitational, with three 5,000m runners clocking times in the Columbia top-10. Ryan Thomas won his heat of the men's race in 14:00.56, which was the third best effort in school history. Henna Rustami and Natalie Tanner ran in different heats, but still impressed as Rustami went 15:59.79 for the third fastest time at Columbia, while Tanner clocked a 16:04.65, the fourth fastest time in the Lions record book.
