John Cavalier, formerly the director of football operations at the United States Merchant Marine Academy for the past four years, joined the football staff in April 2010.

In 2012, he was named Assistant Athletic Director for Football and Special Events, taking on additional responsibilities working alongside head coach Pete Mangurian.

Cavalier came to Morningside Heights after serving at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy since February 2006.  In his role as director of football operation responsibilities s, he helped assist in several areas within the football program, including alumni relations, equipment and team travel.

During the 2005 season, Cavalier was an assistant football coach at the Merchant Marine Academy, working with the team's linebackers.

Cavalier is a 2004 graduate of St. John's, where he graduated with a degree in sports management.
