NEW YORK - The Columbia women's squash team will cap the regular season
this weekend with two Ivy League matchups. On Friday, Feb. 10 the Lions will
travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on the Quakers of Penn at 4 p.m. Columbia
will return for their final home match of the season Sunday, Feb. 12 facing
Princeton at 2:30 p.m. The Lions currently stand at 5-8 overall on the season.
At 0-5 in the Ivy League, Columbia will look to get the program's first
conference win in fierce competition.
LAST TIME OUT
The 14th-ranked Lions suffered a 9-0 defeat by
top-ranked Harvard on Friday, Feb. 3. The Big Green of Dartmouth gave Columbia
their second loss of the weekend Sunday, Feb. 5 taking the match 8-1. Sophomore
Katie Quan posted the sole win for the Lions at the number four position,
11-5, 9-11, 11-3, 11-8.
SCOUTING THE QUAKERS
Fourth-ranked Penn currently owns a 6-3 season record and
stands at 3-2 in Ivy League play. The Quakers will enter the match coming off a
tough 5-4 loss to No. 2 Yale. Penn now holds a share of third place in the Ivy
League standings with Cornell.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
At 7-3 on the season and 2-3 in the Ivy League, No. 5
Princeton will enter Street Squash following a match with No. 3 Trinity. The
Tigers' latest win was a 9-0 home victory over Brown.
