NEW YORK - The Columbia men's squash team continued their impressive showing at the 2012 CSA National Championships. Following an upset 5-4 win over Navy on Friday, February 17, the Lions defeated Williams College 5-4 Saturday, February 18 to earn a trip to the finals of the Hoehn Cup (B Division) finals match.

Following the first round matches, Columbia went up 2-1 with wins from junior Graham Miao at no.3  and sophomore Theo Buchsbaum no.5.  In the second shift  the Lions suffered a loss at number 8 but first-year Kyul Rhee came from losing the first game to win giving Columbia a 3-2  overall lead in the match.

The biggest win of the day came from junior captain Tony Zou who defeated his opponent 11-7,11-8,5-11,1-11,11-9 whom he had lost to earlier in the regular season. This put Columbia up 4-2 but Williams picked up two more wins at number 4 and 7, which tied the match up 4-4.

The match came down to the number one's. First-year standout, Ramit Tandon posted an impressive 3-0 win over the Williams no. 1 to clinch the win over Williams.

On Sunday, February 19th at noon, Columbia will face Ivy League foe Penn in the finals to win the Hoehn Cup. These two teams faced each other earlier this season in Philadelphia, Pa. with Penn taking the win 7-2.
