NEW YORK - In its first race at the newly christened Overpeck Park, Columbia heavyweight rowing will take on Yale and Penn for the Blackwell Cup this Saturday, April 14 at 9 a.m. in Leonia, N.J. A fan bus will leave the Columbia campus at 116th Street and Broadway at 8 a.m. to depart for Overpeck Park.
Columbia had its streak of three cup victories snapped last week when the heavyweights were edged out for the Childs Cup in a regatta with Princeton and Penn.
Columbia is ranked 16th in the latest USRowing Collegiate Coaches Poll, released on Wednesday. Yale is ranked eighth and Penn is 14th in that poll.
Saturday's race will have an accompanying audio broadcast. Fans can listen via Stretch Internet's broadcast or call in at 212-381-9645. The full schedule of racing follows:
