Junior Kacie Johnson of the Columbia women's lacrosse team has been named the Ivy League
Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the
league office on Monday, April 16.
Johnson had
stellar performances this week, setting two Columbia all-time season records and
capturing the Lions' second home win of the season. In the first game this week,
Johnson tallied four goals and five assists for a season-high nine points as
Columbia defeated Lafayette 19-11 on Wednesday, April 11. Johnson's nine points
gave her a Columbia season record 62 total points, breaking her mark of 59 set
last season. With five assists in the game, she surpassed Marisa Marcellino's
('08CC) record of 25 for most assists in a season with a total of 27 assists. The
league points leader added six points to her total against Yale on Saturday, April 14 with
four goals and two assists.
The new Ivy
League record holder for career draw controls, senior Taylor Gattinella,
joins Johnson in this week's league honors. She earned a spot on the honor roll behind
five goals and seven draw controls in two games.
Gattinella set the Ivy League all-time record for draw
controls at Dartmouth on Saturday, March 24. She surpassed the previous mark
of 141 set by Cornell's Jaimee Reynolds (1999-02) and continues to add to her
total this season tallying a league record 152 career draw controls.
The Lions return to action on Wednesday, April 18
at 6 p.m. as they host New Hampshire at Robert K. Kraft Field.
