NEW YORK - Three members of the Columbia women's lacrosse team were
named All-Ivy League as announced by the league office on
Wednesday, May 2.
Junior attacker Kacie Johnson was a first-team
selection, becoming the second player in program history to make the
first team. She is the first
player since Carrie Anderer '06CC in 2005 to receive the honor. Defender
Amanda Goodhart joined on the second team and sophomore midfielder Paige Cuscovitch received an honorable mention nod.
Johnson put together a
stellar junior season setting two Columbia all-time season records and ranking
atop the Ivy League in all offensive categories. The two-time Offensive Player of the week finished the regular season as the league leader with 73
total points. She ranks seventh
nationally with an average of 4.87 per game and ranks 17th in assists per game
at 2.13, with a league leading 32 on the season.
With 180 career points, Johnson surpassed Marisa
Marcellino's mark of 164 set in 2008, to become second all-time. The team
assists leader has 72 career assists and stands second all-time, moving past
Columbia standout Holly Glynn's '09CC mark of 52. Johnson tallied four goals
and five assists for a season-high nine points as Columbia defeated Lafayette
19-11 on Wednesday, April 11. Johnson's four goals moved the junior to third
all-time in goals scored becoming only the fifth player to reach the 100th goal
mark. With five assists in the game, she surpassed Marisa Marcellino's ('08CC)
record of 25 for most assists in a season.
Goodhart posted a program season record 29 caused turnovers,
leading the Ivy League for most of the season. The senior surpassed the record
of 28 set by Antoinette Allen in 1999. The senior
caused a career total 77 turnovers, placing her second all-time, surpassing the
69 caused turnovers by Brynn Wumbrand '01CC. She is only the second player in
Columbia history to reach the 70 mark along with Kate Lombard '07CC. Lombard
owns the all-time record with 80.
Cuscovitch had a breakout sophomore season becoming an
offensive force for the Lions. Behind seven hat tricks on the year, the midfielder
earned 41 points on 36 goals and five assists. She also led the team in ground balls with a career
high 36.
