Columbia Field Hockey's assistant coach Caroline Nichols in competing in the games of the XXX Olympiad in London. Columbia Head Field Hockey Coach Marybeth Freeman made the trip across the Atlantic to catch Team USA in action. GoColumbiaLions.com caught up with Coach Freeman before she returns to New York.
Coach Freeman was able to connect with a field hockey alum while in London. Her thoughts:
It's special to be able to meet up with hockey
alum Becca Barrett while I'm in London for the games. We miss her at Columbia
and to reconnect with her in her home town to watch some matches has been
great.
On watching the USA Field Hockey Team and
assistant Coach Caroline Nichols in the London 2012 Games:
Caroline (Nichols) is exceedingly focused when
she's playing and you can see her passion for the game when she is competing.
The venue, the fans and level of competition makes this an exciting time for
her and the entire USA squad and community. We look forward to seeing some high
quality games as we move forward in the tournament.
On USA Field Hockey's win vs. Argentina:
After a slow start to the Germany game, USA
came out tonight with a terrific offensive presence against world-dominant
Argentina. The team was energized from the start, Caroline had an excellent
game. Her strength on the ball, decision making in the middle of the field, and
reading developing plays were critical in allowing USA to preserve the win. A
tremendous performance from all of USA!
