NEW YORK –The Columbia field hockey team will open up Ivy League play
this Sunday, September 16 against Brown in Providence, R.I.
Game time is set for 1 p.m.
The Lions are coming off a 4-2 victory against Hofstra on
Wednesday at the Baker Athletics Complex and will go into conference play
winners of three straight to jump over the .500 mark at 3-2.
Katie DeSandis scored a pair of goals on Wednesday to help Columbia overcome an
early 1-0 deficit. Christie O’Hara stopped six shots and currently leads the
Ivy League with 42 saves on the year.
The Lions' strong play has them leading the conference
averaging 3.59 goals per game. Columbia also has four players that rank in the
league leading scorers, including reigning Ivy League Co-Player of the Week
Gabby Kozlowski, who ranks second with 10 points (4 G, 2 A).
Brown has reeled off back-to-back wins against Vermont and Colgate to
improve to 2-1 on the young season and will play at Bryant on Friday night
prior to Sunday’s matchup.
Last season, the Lions topped the Bears 3-1 last season in
their home opener. Kozlowski scored in the game and O’Hara earned the win in
net, stopping six shots.
