BEDLETTER, Ky. - The Columbia women's golf team completed
two rounds of competition at the Murray State Drake Creek Invitational Monday
and stand in fifth place heading into Tuesday's final round.
Columbia (304-302-606) sits seven strokes back of
tournament-leader Central Arkansas (306-293-599). Michelle Piyapattra opened
play with a 72 to sit in second place following the first 18 holes. She
followed her first round up with a second-round tally of 76 to end the day tied
for sixth, just four strokes behind Belmont's Shay Sullivan, who sits atop the
A pair of Columbia golfers sit tied for 17th after two
rounds of play. Monique Ishikawa, coming off a second-place showing at the
Bucknell Invitational, carded a 77 in the first round and improved two strokes
in her second round. Lilette Mocio reached her two-round score of 152 with
equal rounds of 76.
Jane Dong and Elizabeth Combs round out the Columbia lineup,
each tied for 25th. Dong shot an
opening-round score of 79 and then improved three-strokes in the afternoon
round. Combs improved five strokes in her second round, shooting a 75 in the
afternoon round after opening play with an 80.
Play will continue Tuesday with the third and final round at
the Drake Creek Golf Club.
Columbia is also represented at the St. John's Women's
Intercollegiate at Eisenhower Park, with four Lions competing as individuals.
Joanna Henry leads the Columbia contingent, registering a first-round score of
77, tied for 10th.
Spenser Krut stands in 25th after the opening round, posting
a plus-nine 81. Ashley Zambito and Maria Lu finished the opening day in 43rd
and 45th place, respectively. Lu will be
among the first group that tees off tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.
