NEW YORK - The Columbia men's tennis team will play host to
nine schools this weekend as the Columbia Classic gets underway Friday at the
Dick Savitt Tennis Center.
In addition to the Lions, the 10-team field will feature:
Cornell, Penn, Fairleigh Dickinson, St. John's, Marist, Fairfield, Monmouth,
Fordham and NJIT.
This is the third tournament during the fall season for
Columbia. The Lions won four draw titles at the Farnsworth/Princeton
Invitational to open the season. Daniel Morgan, Max Schnur, Ashok Narayana and
Bert Vancura all left Princeton, N.J. winners of their respective draws.
The following weekend at the USTA NTC BJK Men's College
Invitational, freshman Dragos Ignat played his way to a draw title in his first
collegiate tournament, beating Matthew Spindler from Princeton.
Play at the Columbia Classic begins Friday and will continue
through Sunday.
