NEW YORK - Columbia men's tennis player Dragos Ignat will
play for the 'A' singles draw title Sunday, having won a pair of matches Saturday
at the Columbia Classic.
Ignat began the day with a quarterfinals matchup against
Fordham's Srikar Alla. The freshman, playing in just his second collegiate
tournament, defeated Alla in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
In the semifinals, Ignat faced a tough opponent in Fairleigh
Dickinson's Arvis Berzins, but came away with the win, 7-6, 6-4. It will be an
all-Dragos final, as Cornell's Dragos Dima will face Ignat Sunday.
The Columbia Classic concludes Sunday.
