PRINCETON, N.J. - Senior Megan Gaughn was named the Ivy
League Co-Player of the Week after becoming the first-ever Columbia volleyball
player to reach the 1,000-kill, 1,000-dig mark.
Gaughn accomplished this feat by leading the Lions to a
five-set win at Cornell on Saturday, breaking a 16-16 tie in the fifth set with
consecutive kills. She also put away the first set with back-to-back kills,
breaking a 23-all tie. The outside hitter finished the day with a 16-kill,
18-dig performance as she amassed 1,170 kills and 1,007 digs for her career.
This week's honors marks the third career Player of the Week
recognition for Gaughn. She is the second Ivy League Player of the Week for the
Lions this season following first-year Atlanta Moye-McLaren, who earned Player
and Co-Rookie of the Week honors on September 18.
Gaughn shares this week's Player of the Week honors with Penn's
Susan Stuecheli.
Columbia (9-8, 4-4 Ivy League) continues Ivy League road action next
weekend with a 7 p.m. Friday match at Yale followed by a 5 p.m. match on
Saturday at Brown.
