CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Quentin Grigsby scored his second goal of the season and Kyle Jackson made seven saves for Columbia as the Lions shutout Harvard, 1-0, Saturday at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium.

Harvard came out in control early on, attacking the Columbia goal on numerous occasions. In the 13th minute Brian Rogers had an excellent opportunity for Harvard after getting by the Columbia keeper but Grigsby jumped in front of the net to stop the shot and keep the game scoreless.

Columbia stayed strong defensively throughout the half, eventually pushing the action to its offensive zone. The continued pressure paid off in the 37th minute with Grigsby heading in a throw-in from Frederick Elliot. The goal, Grigsby's second strike of the season, put Columbia ahead 1-0 heading into halftime.

Harvard came out challenging Columbia in the second half. Zack Wolfenzon fired a hard shot in the 52nd minute that went high and Rogers again had his blast turned away by Kyle Jackson two minutes later.

The teams traded shots midway through the half, with Jackson and Harvard goalkeeper Evan Mendez each making quality saves. Oliver White had another good scoring chance for the Crimson in the 87th minute, but his header attempt was grabbed by Jackson.

The first-year keeper for Columbia made one more critical save for the Lions with just 42 seconds left, grabbing another Rogers attempt just before it passed under the crossbar, preserving Columbia's 1-0 victory.

Jackson finished the contest with seven saves, earning his third shutout of the year. Harvard used nine shots in the second half to outshoot Columbia 13-10.

The Lions will return home for their season finale next Saturday when they host Cornell at 7 p.m.
