AUSTIN, Texas - On Thursday, Nov. 29, several of Columbia's women swimmers
began their first day of competition at the 2012 AT&T US Winter National
Championships. Preliminaries kicked off at 10 a.m. and the Lions were geared to
compete in three of the five events on the day.
The quartet of Salena Huang, Katie Meili, Alena Kluge, and
Mikaila Gaffey swam in the first trails of the 200 Free relay combining for a time of 1:35.40. Huang went on to compete in the 500 Free and teamates Meili and Kluge took their marks in the 200 IM.
With a 9th place overall finish time of 1:58.23 in the 200
IM, Meili earned the top seed heading into the 'B' finals of the event. She
returned in the 'B' finals finish with a runner-up time of 1:57.42, defeating
swimmers from big conference schools including Arizona, Texas and UCLA. For the first time this season, Meili finished under 2:00 and now stands ninth in the nation in the 200 IM.

Kristina Parsons swam the fastest 100 fly split in school history at 54:01 with the 'A' squad and Lexi Riggs hit the wall with a personal best of 56.6 on the back leg with the 'B' squad.
