NEW YORK – The No. 14 Columbia women's squash team is set to begin the 2012-13 season this weekend with a home match against No. 6 Cornell Sunday. The Big Red visit the City of New York to challenge the Lions Sunday at 11 a.m.
All Columbia home matches will be held at the SL Green
StreetSquash Center in Harlem on 115th Street between 5th Ave. and Lenox. To

Friday’s match marks the beginning of the third season of
varsity women’s squash at Columbia since the program’s inception in 2010. The
Lions will begin the year as the 14th-ranked squad in the nation.
The Lions are set to return seven student-athletes from last
year's squad, including the top-three players in Alisha Maity,
Katie Quan and Kate Calihan.
Four freshmen are also set to begin their collegiate careers at Columbia this
season.
UPDATE: Friday's women's match against Georgetown has been cancelled.
Scouting Cornell
The Big Red brings and undefeated record to the StreetSquash Center after
downing each of its first three opponents. Cornell topped both No. 16 Hamilton
and No. 10 Williams by 9-0 scores and then edged past Stanford, 5-4.
A total of 13 student-athletes have seen action this year
for a Cornell squad that finished sixth at the 2012 Howe Cup (A Division). Cornell
returned its top-five student-athletes from last season, including First-Team
All-American Danielle Letourneau and Second-Team All-America selection Jamie
Laird.
