Saturday, December 1 was a very busy day for the Columbia women's swimming and diving team, as members of the team competed in mulitple meets on the day. Several
Lions capped the final day of competition at the 2012 AT&T US Winter
National Champions in Austin, Texas.
Senior Caroline Lukins posted a personal best in the morning trials of the 200 fly at 2:00.81. She
went on to capture fourth place in the 'C' finals, breaking her personal-best
time with a 2:00.67.
Another group of Columbia swimmers returned to Nassau County
Aquatics Center in Eastmedow, N.Y. for day two of the 2012 ECAC Warm-Up Championships. The quartet of Lily Morris, Lacey Harris-Coble, Shuchi Chaturvedi, and Daniela Rueda took fifth place in the 200 free relay with acombined
time of 1:39.00.
In the 100 back, the Lions had four swimmers finish in the top ten with Lisa Zhang leading the pack with a sixth-place time of 59.75. Morris
took eighth at 1:00.94, Harris-Coble took ninth at 1:01.33, and Jackie Olwell
placed tenth with a time of 1:01.44.
Morris continued to have strong day, with a runner-up
performance in the 100 fly with a time of 57.11. Zhang captured her second top-ten finish of the day, taking fifth at 58.23. Columbia finished the
third session with two top-ten finishes in the 400 IM. Rueda captured third, hitting the wall at 4:31.11, and Mallory McKeon took tenth at 4:46.58.
Up next, the Lions will jump back into Ivy
League dual-meet competition as they travel to Penn on Friday, Dec. 7 to take the Quakers at 4 p.m
