EASTMEADOW, N.Y. - With 11 swimmers from the Columbia women's swimming team in
Austin, Texas at the 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships,
another group of Columbia swimmers are at the Nassau County Aquatics in
Eastmeadow, N.Y competing in the 2012 ECAC Warm-Up Championships.
The Lions had a stellar first day on Friday, Nov. 30,
highlighted by a dominating team performance in 1650 Free. Columbia took 5 of
the top 8 spots including a 1-2-3 sweep of the event. Daniela Rueda led the way
with a winning time of 16:58.65. In second place was Corinna Bertelsen at
16:58.65 followed by Sidney Drill in third at 17:14.55. These three swimmers
were also joined by Ellie Feely in the 200 medley relay to capture fifth place with
a time of 1:53.27.
Competition continues during Session II beginning at 10
a.m. on Saturday, with Session III taking place at 6 p.m. Saturday
evening. The meet will wrap up on Sunday
with Session IV, which begins at 10 a.m.
The women's diving team also competed on Friday, at the inaugural
Brown Invitational in Providence, R.I. Kathleen Furr led the Lions with a
seventh-place finish in the 3 meter diving event with 220.65 points.
