2013 Columbia Baseball Schedule
NEW YORK - The Lions are set to play thirteen home games at
Robertson Field at Satow Stadium in addition to 17 games versus NCAA regional
opponents during the upcoming 2013 season.
The challenging schedule features a number of top-notch
opponents early on, including the 2012 NCAA national champions, University of Arizona.
The Lions will kick off the season in Texas with a four-game
series at Lamar beginning Friday, March 1.
A week later, Columbia continues westward to Arizona for a trio of
games against the Wildcats, marking the first time in program history the Lions will take on a defending national championship team.
From there, the Lions head down to sunny Florida for this
year's spring break trip, which will feature a set of six contests. The Lions
will first play four games at University of Central Florida in Orlando before
heading south to Miami for two matchups against the Hurricanes.
Next, Columbia returns to New York for three games vs. NYIT
and one at Army before opening the 2013 home slate with a doubleheader against
local rival Manhattan on Wednesday, March 27 at Robertson Field at Satow
Stadium.
The Lions remain home to open Ivy League action with two
consecutive doubleheaders against Harvard and Dartmouth, and will conclude the
2013 regular season with a pair of games at Penn in Philadelphia on Saturday,
April 27.
"We are very excited about the schedule this spring," said
Columbia baseball head coach Brett Boretti. "It is very challenging, with seven
NCAA regional participants and two Super-Regional teams. It will prepare us as
well as can be for the conference season and hopefully the NCAA tournament."
