NEW YORK - The Columbia women's swimming and diving team will begin the
2013 calendar year with their first home meet of the season as it host Bucknell
on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 12 p.m. in Uris Pool. The meet will start with the diving events at noon, followed by the swimming events at 2p.m. The Lions will look to capture
their second straight dual meet on Saturday, following a 159-140 victory over
Penn in their last outing.
Dating back to the 2005-06 season, Columbia has controlled
the series between the Bison winning the last six meetings. The 6-0 series stands
as the current second-longest non-conference win streak for the Lions.

Last Time Out
With two individual wins from senior Katie Meili and domination
in both diving events, Columbia captured its first win of the season with a
159-140 victory at Penn on Friday, Dec. 7. The Lions improved to 1-2 on the
season and the women's diving core still remains undefeated in Ivy League play.
The one-meter diving event saw the Lions take the top two
spots with Kristin Hehir in first place at 250.50 and Kathleen Furr in second
place at 241.65. Hehir and Furr would also take the top spots in the
three-meter diving event. This time, it was Furr with the win at 270.15 and
Hehir the runner-up at 269.33.
Meili posted wins in both breaststroke events to lead the
Lions. She picked up a win in the 100 breast with a time of 1:05.98 and added a
second win at 2:22.30 in the 200 breast.

Scouting the Bison
Bucknell is 3-3 on the season following a 215-85 win over
Binghamton in the team's last outing. The Bison picked up wins over American
and Navy in the top half of the season and will face the Lions on Saturday in
their first meet of 2013.
