FINAL RESULTS

NEW YORK - Micah Rembrandt swept the diving events and seven different Columbia swimmers won individual races to help the Columbia men's swimming and diving team earn a 209-91 victory over Bucknell on Saturday, Jan. 5 at Uris Pool. With the win, Columbia improves to 3-2 overall and defeated the Bison for the ninth consecutive time, dating back to the 2004-05 season.

On the boards, Rembrandt amassed a score of 305.78 to claim the three-meter diving competition to lead the Columbia sweep. Jason Collazo placed second with 267.68 points and Derek Kim took third with 261.23. The Lions diving core dominated the one-meter diving event as well with Rembrandt placing first with 290.48 points, Kim in second with 277.28 points and Collazo in third with 272.47 points, respectively.

Columbia's early lead continued to grow as the Lions won the next four events. In the 200-yard medley relay, the quartet of Daniel Gosek, Stanley Wong, David Jakl and Alex Ngan won with a time of 1:32.42.  The Columbia 'B' squad of Michael Fox-Moles, Matt Swallow, Philipp, and John Wirght placed second, clocking in at 1:32.99 to add points for the Lions

Ronald Chen guided Columbia in the 1650 freestyle, as he posted a time of 16:26.70, almost eight seconds ahead of Bucknell’s Brian Phillips (16:34.16), who was second. Stephen Raynes turned in a strong third place at 16:35.36.

Christian Vivadelli and Kevin Quinn anchored the 200 freestyle for Columbia, with Vivadeli capturing the race in 1:.43.26, and Quinn earning third in 1:43.42. The Lions also cruised by the competition in the 100 backstroke, as Fox-Moles led the third Columbia sweep when he grabbed the wall in 51:40. In second place was Jared Namba in 41.64 and first-year Benjamin Xu followed in third with a time of 52.27.

A fourth of six total event sweeps came in the 50 freestyle behind Gosek (20.73) in first place, Wong(20.80) in second place and Tan (21.59) in third place. Gaissert won his first of two individual events of the meet in the 100 freestyle in 46.28, beating out teammates Ngan in second at 46.98 and Wong in 47.58.

Quinn would lead the final sweep of the afternoon in the 200 backstroke, posting the winning time of 1:53.04. He was followed by Xu (1:53.58) and Vivadelli (1:55.86) as the Lions captured the top three spots. Mango picked up a win in the 500 freestyle, swimming a time of 4:46.27 in the final individual event

The final event of the afternoon went to the Lions as the squad of Jakl, Vivadelli, Traub, and Koll placed first in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 6:49.39. The Columbia quartet of Gosek, Quinn, Giassert, and Wright followed to claim second place in the event , recording a time of7:03.25.
