College Squash Scores

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The No. 14 Columbia women's squash team won three of four matches over the weekend, defeating No. 15 Franklin & Marshall, No. 12 George Washington and No. 20 Bowdoin.

Columbia's first victory of the season came Friday as the Lions shutout Franklin & Marshall, 9-0, winning all 27 sets. Kate Calihan had the most dominate showing in the No. 5 match, giving up just 11 points. Leah Barnet and Monica Stone also played strong matches, giving up just 15 points in the No. 4 and 7 positions, respectively.

On Saturday, Columbia recorded its second win with an 8-1 victory over George Washington. The Lions took positions No. 2-9 of the ladder. Reyna Pacheco garnered the win for Columbia in the No. 2 spot, coming back from a 2-1 deficit to beat Jacqueline Shea in five sets. Positions No. 3-8 all fell in favor of Columbia in straight sets, while Jenny Schroder took the No. 9 match in four sets.

A 9-0 win over Bowdoin Sunday made it three victories in three days for the Lions. Katie Quan gave up just 10 points to Bonnie Cao to in the No. 6 match, while Stone allowed Sara Wlodarcyzk to score just 11 points. Pacheco, Schroder, Skylar Dickey and Alisha Maity all tallied straight-set wins for Columbia.

The Lions lone loss of the weekend came to No. 7 Stanford, as the Cardinal knocked off Columbia, 8-1. 

Columbia will next be in action when they take on No. 11 Middlebury on Jan. 26 in Vermont.
