MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The No. 12 Columbia women's squash team lost a pair of tough matches over the weekend, falling on the road to No. 11 Middlebury Saturday and No. 10 Williams Sunday.

Middlebury edged Columbia, 6-3, winning the top match and bottom five matches on the ladder. Reyna Pacheco and Kate Calihan won the No. 2 and 4 matches, respectively, in four games, while Alisha Maity won the No. 3 match in five games.

Pacheco was tied 1-1 with Abigail Jenkins after the first two games before taking the match by winning the next two games. Calihan dropped the first game to Tiffany Hau, but rallied to win the next three for the victory. Maity also needed a comeback to defeat Anne Waymard. After going down 2-1, Maity won the remaining two games, 11-4, 11-4, to win the match.

Against Williams Sunday, Calihan notched her second win of the weekend and Katie Quan won the No. 7 match, but the Lions went down, 7-2, to the Ephs.

Calihan posted a sweep in the No. 4 match, 11-5, 11-7, 11-7, over Alyssa Northrop. Quan was just as dominant, giving up just 14 point to Hannah Kaemmer, 11-2, 11-6, 11-6.

Columbia returns to action Saturday, Feb. 2, when it visits Harvard. First serve in Cambridge, Mass. is set for 12 p.m.
