EAST REGION RESULTS
QUEENS, N.Y. - The Columbia archery team opened the 2013 season at the New
York State Indoor Championships in Queens, N.Y. on Saturday, February 2. The Lions
showed well in the Eastern Regional portion of the tournament, led by sophomores Gladys
Velez-Caicedo in the collegiate compound division and Grace Kim in the collegiate
recurve division.
In compound, Velez-Calcedo shot the highest score of the team with a
career-best 557 and junior Mary Quien shot a 533. Kim also led the recurve core
firing a 548 on the day. Tiffany Kim posted a 533 in her first collegiate
competition and Sarah Bernstein tallied a 504 score.
Also competing in the recurve division for Columbia was Marilyn
He (482), Sara Lavenhar (439) and Jennifer Zhu (313).
The Lions await the results of the Western Regional, to be
held on March 2, to determine its place in the New York State Indoor Championships.
Up next, Columbia will compete in the east regional of the
2013 USCA National Indoor Champions in Durham, N.H. from Friday March 1 to Sunday, March 3.
