NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Columbia men's basketball team fell to Yale, 75-56, on Saturday night at the John J. Lee Amphitheater on Saturday night. The Lions drop to 10-12 overall and 2-6 in Ivy League play.

Sophomore Steve Frankoski posted 16 points, and was 4-for-6 from downtown. First-year Brad Gilson scored a career high 11 points in 13 minutes off the bench.

The Bulldogs (10-15, 4-4) raced out to a 9-0 lead before Frankoski drilled a three to end Columbia's drought with 14:54 to go in the first half. The Lions pulled within 14-11 after an and-one by Mark Cisco at the 10:55 marker, but that was as close as Columbia came in the period.

Yale blew the game open with a 15-2 run to go ahead by 16 with 4:30 before the break, and held a 43-21 advantage at halftime.

Frankoski scored the first five points of the second half, but the Bulldogs scored the next nine points to remain comfortably in front to effectively put the game away.

Yale shot a scorching 62.0 percent from the field, and out-rebounded Columbia 33-20.

The Lions return to Levien Gymnasium to begin a four-game home-stand when they host Princeton on Friday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here or calling (888) LIONS-11.
