CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Columbia women’s basketball team dropped a tough 71-26 decision to Harvard Tuesday night at Lavietes Pavilion in the Lions’ season finale.

Columbia finished the 2013 slate with a 5-23 overall record, including a 3-11 Ivy League mark after earning a 48-39 win over Dartmouth in its final home game on Saturday.

Harvard (20-8, 11-3) earned its seventh consecutive win and completed the season a perfect 11-0 at home. The Crimson finished second place in the Ivy League standings and will head to the WNIT for the second straight year.

Taylor Ward led the Lions in scoring with nine points on the night. Columbia was persistent on defense, as the Lions held a 6-2 blocking advantage and grabbed 12 steals. Taylor Ball recorded a career high-tying four steals while Lizzy Stachon swatted a career high-tying three blocks.

Three players scored in double figures to lead the way for Harvard. Victoria Lippert posted a game-high 14 points and seven rebounds, Christine Clark  scored 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor, and Elle Hagedorn added another 10.

Columbia took the first lead of the game with a Ball jumper but Harvard took over shortly after and led the rest of the way to post the victory.
