NEW YORK - The No. 53 Columbia women's tennis team will begin a three-match road trip through the state of Texas Monday, March 18 with a 2 p.m. contest at Texas-Arlington. Matches at No. 48 Southern Methodist Thursday, March 21 and North Texas Saturday, March 23 will follow.

The Lions are winners in their last four matches, downing Maryland, Akron, Stony Brook and Fordham all by 6-1 scores to improve to 6-3 on the year.

Senior Nicole Bartnik is the lone Lion that is ranked in the latest ITA singles poll, coming in at No. 61 with an overall record of 9-9. Crystal Leung and Kanika Vaidya each have seven wins during the dual season to pace Columbia. In doubles, Vaidya and Bianca Sanon have teamed up to win all five of their matches together and are ranked No. 37 in the nation.

UT-Arlington has struggled in 2013, picking up just one win their first seven matches. The Mavs most recently fell to Wichita State, 4-1, on March 7. Elizabeth Thoms leads UT-Arlington with a 5-2 singles mark, playing as the Mavs' No. 5. Thoms and teammate Brook Dennis have combined for a 3-2 doubles mark, the only winning doubles record on the team.

Southern Methodist went from unranked to No. 48 in the nation with wins over No. 63 UC Santa Barbara and Santa Clara on March 12 and 13 respectively. The Mustangs will host Columbia Thursday with an overall record of 9-5. No. 111 Edyta Cieplucha and Hristina Dishkova each have 10 singles wins in dual matches for SMU to lead the team.

North Texas will host Columbia Saturday sporting a 10-4 record after sweeping two matches over the weekend in Louisiana. The Mean Green downed UL-Monroe and UL-Lafayette to get to double-digit wins. Kseniya Bardabush led the Mean Green in the two wins with victories in the top singles matches.
