ARLINGTON, Texas – The 32nd-ranked Columbia men’s tennis team closed out its spring break trip Friday afternoon with a 4-0 blanking of UT-Arlington.

In doubles competition, the Lions’ No. 1 and 3 teams each posted 8-4 victories to give Columbia an 1-0 lead. No. 24 Ashok Narayana and Max Schnur captured the top doubles match over Soren Goritzka and Marek Pasiscka, while Dragos Ignat and Bert Vancura took the No. 3 match against Sebastian Gomez and Sebastian Erimicioiu.

The Lions completed the sweep with wins in the No. 3, 4 and 5 singles contests. Narayana and Schnur each notched their second wins of the day in singles. Narayana recorded a straight-set victory in the No. 3 singles match, toppling Carlos Arbiza, 6-4, 6-4. Schnur handed Erimicioiu his second loss of the day in the No. 4 match, downing the freshman by a score of 6-4, 6-1.

Eric Rubin claimed Columbia’s fourth point in a three-set match against Marek Pesiscka. Rubin won the first and third sets by scores of 6-0 in the win.

Columbia returns to New York City to host Cornell on March 30 in the Ivy League opener at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
