NEW YORK – The Columbia women's lacrosse team will begin a four-game homestand on Sunday, March 31 as they host Fresno State at 7 p.m. The Lions will face the west coast team for the first time in program history on Robert K. Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium.
This game is designated as a Student Rewards Program event. All students are encouraged to attend the game for free and earn credit to great prizes. The first 50 students get a free gift! Remember to bring a valid student ID.
LAST TIME OUT
Senior Kacie Johnson posted her fifth hat trick of the season on Wednesday, March 27 as the Columbia women’s lacrosse team faced Princeton on the road. The Lions dropped to 1-8 overall on the season and 0-4 in the Ivy League after the Tigers scored nine goals in both periods to hand Columbia an 18-7 defeat.
WRITING THE RECORD BOOKS
With her second score of the game against Dartmouth on March 23, Johnson tallied her 135th career goal. The Wilton, Conn. native is now Columbia’s all-time career goals leader with 139 goals, breaking the previous record of 134 held by Holly Glynn (‘09CC).
The senior has 216 career points to date, becoming the first Columbia player to reach the 200-point mark. With seven points on Saturday, Feb. 23 in a win over Mount St. Mary's, Johnson surpassed Holly Glynn's ('09CC) mark of 186 points to become the all-time points leader in program history.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Fresno State currently stands 1-6 on the season dropping six straight contests on the season. Sunday’s matchup with Columbia will be the second game of the Bulldogs east coast weekend with their first stop at Manhattan on Friday.
