OVERPECK PARK INFORMATION

NEW YORK – A tradition unlike any other? The Masters has nothing on the Childs Cup, the oldest trophy in collegiate athletics, which will be on the line for the 103rd time on Saturday, April 13, when the Columbia heavyweight rowing team takes on Penn and Princeton on Overpeck Lake.

Last year, Princeton won the race for the third consecutive season. Penn clocked in just 1.9 seconds in front of Columbia for the runner-up spot. The Lions last claimed the cup in 2009 on Lake Carnegie.

Columbia retained the Alumni Cup for the fourth straight year, topping Dartmouth, Holy Cross and MIT last weekend. The Lions won three of four races and are currently ranked No. 15 in the U.S. Rowing Collegiate Poll.

The Quakers finished third at the Copley Cup Varsity Eight Invitational in San Diego last weekend, finishing behind No. 3 California and No. 9 Stanford. Penn checks in this week at No. 13 in the national polls.

Princeton, ranked fifth in the nation, topped No. 10 Navy on Lake Carnegie last weekend by 3.3 seconds to improve to 3-0 on the season.

There will be a fan bus leaving from 116th Street and Broadway at 8:30 a.m. on a first-come, first-serve basis.

For fans driving to the regatta, 199 Challenger Road, Ridgefield Park, N.J. is the best GPS address to find the park. Spectator parking is located across the waterway in the "new" part of the Overpeck Park. Fans will be high enough on the hill to see racing. There is no parking permitted in the Equestrian Center lot. For more information, click the spectator maps located here.
