NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Columbia University women's tennis team came into Sunday's match tied with Yale atop the Ivy League standings as the only unbeaten teams in conference action. The Lions fought to remain on top but could not overcome the Bulldogs, dropping a tough 5-2 decision on the road.

Columbia (11-5, 4-1 Ivy League) had a four-match winning streak snapped as Yale improved to 15-2 overall and 4-0 in conference action.

The Lions earned the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and 3. The strong duo of Bianca Sanon and Kanika Vaidya earned the top flight win by an 8-3 score over Elizabeth Epstein and Annie Sullivan, and Tiana Takenaga and Ioana Alecsiu finished off the point with an 8-3 win over Courtney Amos and Hanna Yu at No. 3.

Nicole Bartnik was the sole singles victory as the 70th-ranked top flighter defeated No. 64 Elizabeth Epstein, 6-3, 6-4.

Columbia will look to bounce back this weekend as the Lions head to Penn for a 1:30 p.m. match on Friday, April 19.
