Men's Qualifier

PHILADELPHIA – Representing his country of India, Columbia men’s squash standout Ramit Tandon placed is talents to the test in looking to make the draw of the prestigious U.S. Squash Open Championships on Wednesday night.  

Held at Drexel University from Wednesday, Oct. 9 – Friday, Oct. 18, the 2013 Delaware Investments U.S.  Squash Open is the most heralded squash tournament in the United States, and one of the most significant in the world. It is known as a major international display of supreme talent in squash, showcasing the top players from around the world.

In the men’s qualifier semifinal, Tandon swept Jan Koukal (CZE), who holds a world ranking of 80, in straight sets (11-6, 11-6, 11-9) for his first victory of the tournament. Tandon, the 288th world-ranked player, dropped his match against Abdullah Al Muzayen , the 44th world-ranked player,  in the finals qualifier on Thursday, Oct. 10 in four sets (11-8, 11-8, 6-11, 11-8), just missing the men's draw.
