NEW YORK ? Columbia University alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends, while waiting to enter the Midtown Tunnel from the Queens side, may find something refreshing if they glance to their left ? a billboard advertisement for Columbia Football tickets. Through a relationship with Chris Young '90CC, President of Vista Media, Columbia billboards promoting ticket sales for upcoming games may sprout up in various locations around the five boroughs.
“We are very excited about this emerging relationship with Vista Media through Chris Young's leadership”, said Barry Neuberger, Associate Athletics Director for Sports Marketing. “We know there is a large segment of Columbia alumni and fans throughout the city that are difficult to reach through traditional advertising buys. This outreach will enlighten not only those audiences, but other sports fans around the city. We want to share that we offer an affordable, entertainment option for Saturday afternoons ? Columbia Football at the Baker Field Athletics Complex.”
Young is the president of Columbia Athletics' Varsity C Club. "I'm really excited about becoming president of the Club,” Young says. “I am in sync with [Athletics Director M. Dianne Murphy's] agenda. I plan on working behind the scenes and helping Dianne get it done.” Young competed in track & field for the Lions after starting his Columbia career as a football player.
Columbia Athletics partnered with the University Public Affairs team in the creation of the billboards.
Other locations for the advertising are being finalized.
