Pitt Duals Schedule
NEW YORK - Three duals are on deck for the Columbia wrestling team this weekend, when the Lions head to the Pitt Duals to square off with No. 15 North Carolina, Franklin & Marshall and Bloomsburg on Saturday.
Wrestling is scheduled to start at 9 am, with four total rounds taking place. Columbia will begin wrestling in Round II against the Tar Heels, followed by a Round III dual with EIWA foe Franklin & Marshall, before wrapping up with a Round IV match against Bloomsburg.
Historically, Columbia has only a few matches against two of this weekend's opponents, but has met F&M 22 times. In the 2009 Northeast Duals, the Lions dropped a 13-20 match against Bloomsburg before an 18-18 tie with UNC during their only two matches against the pair. The Lions are 10-10-2 against F&M, and winners of the last four duals.
Most recently, the Lions took part in the 53rd Annual Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, hosted by Northwestern. Against some of the top wrestling schools in the country, junior Markus Scheidel was able to take the medal stand with an eighth place finish at 157 pounds.
A season ago, Columbia went 6-5 in dual matches, including victories over EIWA opponents Buffalo, Binghamton, American, Hofstra, Harvard and Brown.
