HILTON HEAD, S.C. – First-year Gayathri Krishnan received a USTA wild card to directly earn a spot in the main draw of the 15K International Tennis Federation Tournament hosted by the Van der Meer Shipyard Racquet Club in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Krishnan began competition in the main draw, but fell in the first round to qualifier Kira Matushkina in a 6-1, 6-2 match.
The first-year from Cupertino, California is having an impressive start to her Columbia career as she opened the fall season with a 3-0 mark in singles play at the Columbia Invitational. Krishnan didn't drop a set as she defeated Tiziana Rossini (VCU), 6-3, 7-5, Emma Baker (Cornell), 6-3, 6-3 and Leo Boisseau (LIU), 6-1, 6-1 during the three-day event.

Krishnan helped the team win two league championships (2021 and 2022) and a NorCal Championship in 2023. Individually, Krishnan was a two-time league singles champion (2021 and 2022) and a two-time Central Coast Section singles champion (2021 and 2022).
